1. Porsche 911 996. My dream car has been a Porsche 911, ever since my forth grade teacher got me into Porsches by feeding me “Excellence” Porsche magazines to try and keep me out of trouble. She daily drove a Porsche 968 I’d like to say and had something vintage in her garage. I never asked though.
Yeah, that’s the in short story of how I got into VAG. Audi actually came a few years later. Volkswagen was always kinda meh, but same thing as Porsche right?
Also, I really honestly enjoy cycling through cars at an alarming rate. Pls halp. The A6 is great and all, but it just doesn’t suit my personality well.
2. WRX, because I’ve always wanted one. (Used, 2015+) I don’t want payments though.
3. FiST, I’m yet to come to terms with buying a Ford Fiesta though. Again, I’d rather not have payments.
4. Maybe a B8 S4. But that’s a lot farther down the road.

At least your 4th grade teacher get you into VAG.

I’m not a Porsche fan, but if I were, I’d still hate those headlights.

Through a rather overcomplicated method (that Top Gear episode in Wales) that 911 has made me realise that my favourite looking Jaguar Coupe is the Mk1 XK.
Won’t be buying one of these anytime soon though. Now I’m sad, I want a XK.

I owned a 996 for a week. ‘00 C4 6 speed, natural brown leather. Literally a week into owning it I stuffed it in the corner on the track and that was that.
But maaaaannnn what a week it was.
I want a V8 Vantage next, but if I could swing it I’d own another 996 and a Vantage and live the rest of my days happy

Daydreaming or are you already stepping out on the A6?

They make me hungry for eggs, and I hate eggs.

Awesome! Except the wreckage part.
What’s that I see in your profile pic? An Rs6 with Bentley wheels?

i like eggs, they’re yum.

Probably staying into the A6 until a sub $15k 996 comes onto the local Craigslist.
Here’s what I don’t like about the A6:
1. It makes me feel old, the one and only owner before me was a doctor. It’s a very doctor-y car.
2. I’m actually honestly scared to flog it.
3. Too heavy and boaty.
4. If my turbos blow up at some point, I’m not sure what I’ll do.
5. Due for a t-belt job at 120k.

Yep! (no more bent wheels, was just a photoshoot) I have a o1e swapped C5 RS6. The C5 is my favorite platform. love it too much

Jeeebus, that thing looks amazing! Love it.
Here’s my A6. Nothing too special, rare 6-Speed though. Rs6 five spokes hopefully coming soon.

So the honeymoon ended that quickly? I am also a hater of midsize to large cars.

Depends probably, I’ve got to check some insurance rates though.
I could sell it right now and make a profit, but I’m not sure that I want to do that yet. I’m going to grab new wheels and a few other things first, just to see if that does anything for me.

nice man! yeah I had a 2.7tt for a long time actually they’re amazing cars and you should revel in driving it as much as you can. Definitely need to get some bigger wheels and some smaller rubber for it. it’ll help with the grip and the look a ton. I run 235/15 on mine and while it’s easier to get a flat man does it hustle better.
Also that platform is the perfect tuner set up, I dunno what you’ve planned (you seem intent on moving on) but if not then with some money you can make a 2.7 absolutely fly.

Life is too short get the damn Porsche 911

Thanks! It’s a great car, I just want to keep the k03s as long as possible. I’m going to order some of these and Pirelli tires. I’ll spray the wheels gunmetal and get some Bilsteins or something if I keep it. I’ll have to play with the fitment to get them to clear the hp2 front calipers though.
There is a ton of potential in the platform though, I completely agree. Any suggested mods or anything?

My dream car is a 911 as well...996 values are really good but I would rather spend a bit more and get a 997.1. I plan to add a 997 to my stable in a couple of years.
My interest in the WRX wanes with every successive generation. I LOVED the bugeye WRX, especially the wagon. I would still own one of those. The new one does not interest me at all.
The FiST is pretty neat, but the GTI is so good and prices are so hard to beat on them, I couldn’t pick a FiST over them.
A few years ago when I was considering doing something crazy, I went to my local Audi dealer and test drove a CPO’d RS4 back to back with a B8 S4. The S4 was fast, but compared to the RS4, it was bland an unexciting. And not anywhere as handsome. Even with the engine related issue (especially carbon cleaning) I would take an RS4 over a B8 s4. (RS4 is also a car I am considering at some point).

We have very similar goals, haha.
The 997 values are still pretty high up there though, 911s hold their values like crazy.

I had no idea you were willing to give the Corolla a chance!

They’re so cheap right now. I want one so bad.

GTI? I support the B8 S4 idea. Always loved those. I dreamed about a manual B8 S4 wagon once, it was nice. I’ve seen some S5’s under $30k with decent miles, I bet S4’s will be dipping around $20k soon enough.

Just don’t.

Exterior doesn’t require much, but I’d definitely lower it either shocks/springs or coils (I use ST on my rs6 and I used FKs on my 2.7t), the wheels and rubber will help immensely.
for the engine, if you’re trying to keep it kind of stock then front sway would be a nice addition, K04s are the obvious upgrade (plus ecu) but that’s not practical from a reliability standpoint
For the interior, clean it well, condition the leather and get a new headunit. I have a Pioneer appradio that works great with the stock bose sound system and gives me carplay, but if you want the ultimate stock look then get a RNS-E
best of luck!

FiST! Have fun! Every drive gives you a grin, and it's relatively efficient and practical!

What makes it even funnier is blue is a pretty popular color on the current Corolla based on what I’ve seen.

They do...I’d consider a 987.2 Cayman, but my height is an issue in those.
![]() 11/06/2015 at 07:21 |

I’m not sure why, but the Cayman and Boxster never really did anything for me.
![]() 11/06/2015 at 07:24 |

How do those ST coilovers ride? On my old A4, I had Racelands and they rode like a Conestoga wagon.
K04s are a bit too much money, haha. A chip scares me a little bit also.
I had cleaned the interior pretty good though, still have a little work to do once I get the time though. I did already get a new head unit, but I hate it with a burning passion and it works HORRIBLY with the Bose system. They said it would work with the steering wheel controls, it didn’t. Along with a multitude of other issues.

3. Cool
4. Run away.

I thought the STs work really well. But If you’re just looking for a comfy ride and lower you should definitely stick to HR Coils for the RS6 (they all are interchangeable, RS6 ones just ride a bit lower)

What Jarod said.

They don’t do as much for me either. But it’s still a P0rsche, and WAY cheaper than a 997.

i feel like i may have mentioned this to you before, but i’ll say it again becausei believe its true... save the few extra g’s, and find a 2002 rather than 1999-2001. reasons why:
1. tear drop headlights from the turbo rather than the eggs shared with the boxster
2. 3.6L vs 3.4L engine. hp/tq increase you can actually feel
3. updated steering wheel
4. 18 inch carerra lightweight wheels rather than the 993 turbo twist carry overs, or 17 in boxster wheels.
otherwise, i fully support this.
:)
